SkySite Images is known for providing high quality, functional, effective images for commercial applications. Charlie Sarratt learned over time that even commercial clients appreciate an artistic twist to some of the more typical commercial shots. Something as seemingly insignificant as photographing an office building at sunrise can quickly grab people’s attention. Color, composition, creativity, and good timing are what people have come to expect from us. An image taken now isn’t the same as one taken twenty minutes from now. A slight move of the shadow can make all the difference when working on a national ad campaign. Every detail matters and Charlie ensures none are overlooked. A SkySite photo isn’t one to throw in an ad and hope for the best. A SkySite image is one that will help sell the property and lease the space because of the care given to achieve the best possible image and the subtle use of artistic elements. After several years of showing clients a wide variety of interesting ways to view their properties – Charlie was once asked to make a very old, worn-down warehouse look “sexy”- he decided to venture out and shoot not just the buildings on site but the land itself. This in turn allowed clients to convey a sense of place as they shared images with prospective buyers and tenants. They let the photos speak for themselves and answer more than “What does the building look like?” Charlie wants to show people what it feels like to be there.
Charlie’s images expose his fascinations with light, symmetry, and color. His seeks to find perspectives that are unusual yet also familiar. Though he enjoys shooting abstract images that show the harshness of a steel structure, for example, he prefers to show the contrast between nature and man, light and dark, and reflections. His inspiration comes simply from his environment at a given moment. Whether on assignment or at a coffee shop, all things are raw ingredients from which an artistic photo can be made. Photography can be functional, interesting, motivational, even comforting. Charlie’s passion is to create images that no one else would think to create. The ultimate reward is that an image resonates with someone. Even the slightest pause or moment of “hmm” is what separates a good image from an artistic one.
